In a south division meeting on November 13th in Port Colborne at the Vale Centre, the Niagara Whalers took to the ice to host the Tottenham Steam in Greater Metro Hockey League action.
39 seconds into the opening period, Manny Manns fires the Whalers first goal of the game to give the hosts a 1 – 0 lead with Brandon Cercone and Matt Hore drawing the contributors. Viacheslav Chegrintcev of the Steam evens the game 1 – 1 at the 1:52 mark of the first with Ruskin Hughes and Dmitri Russu adding the assists on Chegrintcev’s goal.
Travis Valvo scores Niagara’s second of the game 18 seconds into the middle stanza with Tyler Hore and Manns registering the helpers. David Christopher and Lzaal Del Mastro set up Niagara’s third of the game at 4:40 of the period with a Tyler Jackson goal. With the hosts on a power play, Andrew Robinson finds the back of Tottenham’s net at 13:45 with contributors coming from Jackson and Oskar Levin. With 4:18 left in the period, Niagara’s Matt Tielbur sends the Whalers into the second intermission leading 5 – 1. Kellan Rosenbaum and Tyler Hore had the assists.
Jacob Thomason adds to Niagara’s lead 2:26 into the final period with Matt Johns and Masteron Jesse setting up Thomason’s goal. Jackson fires his second of the contest 12:11 into the period with Tyler Hore and Manns drawing the helpers. Matt and Tyler Hore find Valvo for his second of the game with 33 seconds left in the game to give the Whalers a 8 – 1 win over the Steam. Niagara goaltender Austin Dero stopped 25 of 26 shots from Tottenham.
Niagara will head down the highway to Beamsville on November 18th to meet the Lincoln Mavericks in a 7:05 p.m start.
