Whalers Sink the Lakers at the Vale in GMHL Action

In Port Colborne, Ontario at the Vale Centre on January 12th, the third place (25-0-1) Niagara Whalers took on the twelfth place (2-31) London Lakers in a south division Greater Metro Hockey League match – up.

Whaler David Christopher led Niagara with two goals and three assists in the hosts 12 – 4 win over the Lakers. Three players combined for a total of 12 points for Niagara with Sam Martin contributing on four Whaler goals while Zach Main scored two goals and had two helpers and Steven Farano with one goal and setting up three Niagara goals in the Whalers 26th win of the 2017 – 2018 season. Elias Berglund registered a hat trick for the Niagara on Friday at the Vale. John Swiatek and Kellan Rosenbaum sunk two goals each for the hosts along with Charles Jensen, Erik Peavey and Frolov Mikhail each contributing on two goals each for the Whalers.

Jordan Pitts, Mason Shumate, Jesse Masterson, Brandon Lindberg and goaltender Austin Dero notched one helper in Niagara’s 12 – 4 over London. Whaler goaltender Dero turned away 22 of 26 shots in Niagara’s win on home ice.

The Whalers will hit the road to face the sixth place (14-11-05) Northumberland Stars in Colborne, Ontario on January 13th in a 7:30 p.m GMHL puck drop.
