Titans Fall to 2-1 in GMHL Semi-Final with Loss to Civics

Game three of the best of five Greater Metro Hockey League semi – final between the Témiscaming Titans and New Tecumseth Civics took place in Alliston, Ontario on March 2nd with the series even at 1 – 1. The Titans have outscored the Civics 13 – 6 in the first two meetings in this post – season match – up.

At 3:35 of the opening period, Cullen Bonnel finds New Tecumseth’s Ethan Cornford to give the Civics a 1 – 0 lead. 27 seconds past the halfway mark of the period and on a Titan power play, Témiscaming’s Marc – Antoine Areseneau evens the game 1 – 1 with Hugo Holler and Adrien Guenette adding the contributors. Brendan Barron finds the back of Titan goaltender Veli Makinen ‘s net 42 seconds into the middle stanza with Aidan Baker and Mark Klasen drawing the assists on Barron’s goal. Nicolas Proulx fires a goal past the Civics netminder at 4:35 of the second with Arseneau and Ryder Murray setting up the Titans second power play goal of the contest. Daniel Golba gives the Civics a 3 – 2 lead 6:10 into the period with a pass from Carmine Vietri. New Tecumseth’s Danila Rybin gives the Civics a two goal lead at the 7:34 mark of the second with Barron and Golba adding the helpers on Rybin’s power play marker.

Golba and Cullen register the contributors on Rybin’s second power play goal of the period at 12:43 to bring the Civics lead to 5 – 2. Scoring the fifth power play goal of the period and the fourth power play goal for New Tecumseth was Civic Aidan Parker at 14:20. Bonnel and Barron drew the assists on the visitors sixth of the game. Arseneau finds Murray for Témiscaming’s third of the game at 16:43 of the period to send the Titans into the second intermission down by three. With an unassisted goal, Dalton Anderson adds to the Civics lead at 2:41 of the third while Adrien Guenette rounds out the scoring in game three with a Titan goal at 3:28. Murray and Proulx set up Guenette’s power play marker for Témiscaming. Titans Makinen turned away 36 of 42 shots in Témiscaming’s 7 – 4 loss.

The fourth game of the series will return to Témiscaming, Quebec on Saturday March 4th at Le Centre for a 7:30 p.m puck drop between the Titans and Civics with New Tecumseth holding a 2 – 1 series lead.
