Titans Dominate Ravens To Take 2-0 Series Lead In GMHL Semis

Titans_LogoThe Temiscaming Titans defeated the Halton Ravens 9-3 in game two of the 2015 GMHL Russell Cup Crossover Semi-Final to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-sevens series on March 7th.

After an intense 4-3 shootout thriller in game one, the Titans and Ravens squared off again Saturday night at Le Centre in Temiscaming. It didn’t take long for the horn to go off as Titans’ captain Ryder Murray scored just 38 seconds in to make it 1-0 for the home team. Matthew Ross took a tripping penalty and the Ravens only needed 10 seconds of power play time to put one past Titans’ Craig Wood to tie the game at 1. Spencer Gourlay of the Ravens received an interference penalty which put the Titans to a power play. It lasted 6 seconds as Joey Molfetta ripped one past Brandon Billie to make it 2-1 Titans. Less than a minute later, Danny Visitor picked up the loose puck and buried it to make it 3-1. Halfway through the opening frame, Marc-Antoine Arseneau make scored to make it 4-1 Titans. Halton would respond to make it 4-2 with a goal from Tye Campbell. Shots in the first frame were 18-16 Titans.

In the second period the Titans scored three unanswered goals to make it 7-2. The goals came from William Tonseth, Arseneau with his second, and Curtis Warren. Halton would add one of their own late in the period with Campbell picking up his second of the night which made it 7-3. With less than two minutes to play in the second period, Brandon Case netted one to make it 8-3 Titans after two periods of play.

The third period was a pretty quiet period. It was clear to both teams that the Titans were going up 2-0 in the series. They played out the period clean. Case would add his second of the night with less then five minutes to play to make it 9-3 Titans which would be the final score..

Notes: Craig Wood is 7-0-0 in the playoffs with a .95 goals against average and a save percentage of .971% … Elliot Willetts, Scott Sovinsky, Edward Jejdling, and Johan With were scratches for the Titans Saturday while the Ravens scratched Cailean Thornton-Wilson, Arlo Baggs, Mitchell Rossit, Milan Bango, and Dylan Bahr.
