After their 2017 – 2018 Summer Development Camp, the Superior International Junior Hockey League’s Fort Frances Lakers have signed 19 year old blueliner Anthony Antonelli to their roster for the fall of 2017.
The New York, New York native comes to Fort Frances after playing the 2016 – 2017 season in the Elite USPHL with the P.A.L Junior Islanders. In 22 regular season games in Syosset, New York with the Islanders, the 180 lbs and 5’11” blueliner had eight goals and added two assists along with tallying 28 minutes in penalties for the Islanders.
“Anthony is a strong skating defenseman who we hope can bring skill to our back end. He has a couple years experience in Junior now so he can add some experience to our line up. We look forward to having Anthony as a part of our organization in late August” said Laker coach Wayne Strachan.
Antonelli told the Junior Hockey Network that “I’m very exited for the opportunity to play with the lakers. I’m looking forward to have a successful season with them and learn a lot from the coaching staff. I’m going to bring my style of play to the team which is an offensively minded defenseman. Looking forward to a lot of success with my teammates.”
