SIJHL Lakers Release Netminder Ryan Ferguson

PlayerThe Superior International Junior Hockey League has released Calgary. Alberta native Ryan Ferguson. The 6’2” and 180 lbs goaltender has been released to make room for newly acquired Pierce Dushenko.

During the 2013 – 2014 SIJHL regular season, the 18 year old netminder saw action between the pipes for the Lakers 14 times. Ryan finished the regular season with a goals against average of 3.13 and .888 save percentage. In six post season games last season, the Calgary native posted a GAA of 2.69 for Fort Frances.

Ferguson dressed for a total 0f eleven games so far in the 2014 – 2015 season before being released by the Lakers. In 502:55 minutes this season, Ferguson departs Fort Frances with a record of 7 – 2 and goals against average of 3.94.

Coach Strachan told the Junior Hockey Network that “always hard to make decisions at the cut down date or trade deadline and this one was not an easy one. Ryan is a great person, hard worker and player you could ask anything to do and he would go out and do his best to get it done. Ryan has a couple other opportunities we hope work out for him and we wish him the best of luck in the future.”
