SIJHL Ice Dogs Names Wayne Labrie Director of Hockey Operations & Scouting

Dryden GM Ice Dogs of the Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Tuesday June 6th, the appointment of Wayne Labrie as their director of hockey operations and scouting.

Labrie brings with him with a wealth of hockey experience having served nine years behind the bench in Junior A as the head coach and general manager of the SJHL’s with Kindersley Klippers, Lloydminster Blazers and a brief stint with the Ice Dogs in their early inception to the SIJHL.

Most recently, he has been head scout/director of hockey operations for the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Calgary Canucks.

Prior to that Labrie worked five seasons with another AJHL side in the Drumheller Dragons.

The defending SIJHL Bill Salonen Cup champion GM Ice Dogs will host the 2018 Dudley-Hewitt Cup Central Canada Jr. A Championship next May at Dryden’s Memorial Arena.

President Mike Sveinson of the Ice Dogs “told the Junior Hockey Network that “Wayne brings years of experience in scouting Canadian junior A players. He knows what our goals are in Dryden this year and both sides felt there was a fit where Wayne gets us closer to that goal.”
