In a 4:45 p.m February 10th puck at the Canlan Ice Sports York in North York, Ontario, the third place (28-8-0-4) North York Renegades hosted the fifth place (27-12) Bradford Bulls in a south division Greater Metro Hockey League match – up.
Jonathan Schillaci sank the opening goal of the contest 1:46 into the first to give North York a 1 – 0 lead with David Maikawa and Connor Ventrua adding the helpers on Schillaci’s goal. With 58 seconds remaining in the period, Adrian Bertie sends the hosts into the first intermission up 2 – 0 with Steven Santos and Chris Martin notching the contributors on the Renegades second goal. With the Bulls on a power play, Josh Brunton finds the back of North York goaltender Evan Purdy to pull Bradford within one 2:14 into the second. Bertie sinks his second of the game at 6:32 of the middle stanza to bring the Renegades lead back to two with Mark Mannarn and Schillaci registering the helpers. Jack Flynn closes the gap to one at the 7:42 mark of the third with Zakk Bekolay and Jonne Walkky setting up Bradford’s second on the contest.
With 25 seconds left in the game, Martin gives the hosts a 4 – 2 win over the Bulls for the Renegades 29th win of the 2017 – 2018 season. Nicolas Carnovale and goaltender Evan Purdy drew the assists on Martin’s goal. Evan Purdy turned away 38 of 40 shots in the Renegades win over the Bulls in North York on Saturday evening.
Next up for the Renegades will be the Oshawa Riverkings on February 17th in North York for their final regular season game of the season. Game time will be 4:45 p.m.
