North Stars Shutout the Ice Dogs in Thunder Bay in SIJHL Action

After a 7 – 3 loss 24 hours earlier to the third place North Stars in Thunder Bay, the second place Dryden Ice Dogs returned to action on February 3rd against the North Stars for a back to back road series in Superior International Junior Hockey League action.

Kyle Auger sinks the opening goal 5:55 into the second with Thunder Bay’s Alex Maticic and Avery Siau adding the helpers on Auger’s goal. Auger finds the back of Dryden goaltender Landon Pavlisin at 7:03 of the third with Bradley Thrower sending the pass to Auger on a North Star power play. With their second power play of the contest, Siau and Joe Newhouse set up Thunder Bay’s Maticic at 7:40 of the period to increase the lead to 3 – 0. With 2:17 remaining in the game, Ryan Mignault had the final goal of the game for the hosts with their third power play marker goal of the game. Bradley Thrower and Alexander Erwin drew the assists on Mignault’s goal. Dryden goaltender Landon Pavlisin turned away 35 of 39 shots in the Ice Dogs 4 – 0 loss in Thunder Bay.

The Ice Dogs next opponents will be the Iron Rangers on February 9th in Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota in a 7:00 p.m (CST) start.
