In front of the largest crowd of the 2017 Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League post – season, the Cochrane Crunch took to the ice at the McIntyre Arena in game four of the east division semi – final on March 25th against the Timmins Rock leading the best of seven series 2 – 1.
Konnar DeChaine sinks his fourth of the post – season with the Crunch first of the game 1:17 into the opening period with Nate Viberg and Joseph Thielen adding the contributors on DeChaine’s goal. At 7:14 of the middle stanza, Brandon McReynolds finds the back of the net for his second of the playoffs with Taylor Armbruster and DeChaine setting up McReynolds’ power play marker. Jacob Shankar pulls the Rock within one at 12:28 of the period with a pass from Alexandre Brisson. Timmins Stewart Parnell evens the game 2 – 2 at the 14:52 mark of the second with Shankar and Brisson drawing the helpers.
Bain Cunningham pulls the Rock ahead at 3:28 of the third with Dean Kiriacou and Tyler Romain registering the assists. Haiden Karnick scores the Crunch’s third of the game with his second of the post – season with Austin Stauffer adding the helper 49 seconds before the halfway mark of the period. Brisson gives the Rock a 4 – 3 win with Timmins fourth of the game at 10:36 of the period with Parnell and Shankar adding the contributors. Cochrane’s goaltender Leighton Williams turned away 24 of 28 shots in the Crunch’s third loss of the semi – final.
Game five will return to Cochrane on March 26th at the Tim Horton Event Centre in a 6:00 p.m start with the Rock leading the series 3 – 1.
