Coming off a 20 – 2 loss to the St. George Ravens on home ice on September 30th in London, Ontario in Greater Metro Hockey League action, the London Lakers returned to action on October 2nd against the Oshawa RiverKings at the Legends Centre in Oshawa, Ontario.
London’s Eisai Arai and Eric Charlebois set up Seth Turnage at 6:52 of the opening period to give the Lakers a 1 – 0 lead. Charlebois sinks the visitors second of the contest at the 13:24 mark of the period with Arai and Parker Gee drawing the helpers. With the Lakers on a power play, Parker Gee sends London into the first intermission up 3 – 0 with 13 seconds left in the first. Charlebois and Arai added contributors in Gee’s power play. Scoring their fourth of the game was London’s Arai 1:21 into the second with Matt Michelini and Jorell Crisostomo notching the helpers. Quinn Chevers finds the back of Laker goaltender Thomas Ethier’s net for Oshawa’s first of the game at 3:17 of the period.
With an unassisted goal at 4:31 of the middle stanza, Solan Shifara pulls the RiverKings within two. Nik Tsatsos sends a pass to Ryan Dreossi to close the gap to one for Oshawa at the 6:35 mark of the period. Sinking his second of the contest on a host power play 9:17 into the period, Solan Shifara draws the tying goal for the RiverKings with an unassisted goal. With 3:25 left in the second, Stefan Tursic finds the back of London’s net to give Oshawa a 4 – 3 lead. Jarra Shifara and Chevers add the assists on Tursic go – ahead goal. 58 seconds past the halfway mark of the third, London’s Arai fires the tying goal of the Lakers unassisted. Anthony Dicarlo and Solan Shifara had the contributors on Tursic’s winning goal to give Oshawa 6 – 5 win at 16:53 of the period. Thomas Either made 42 saves in the 4 – 2 loss to the RiverKings on the road on Monday evening in Oshawa.
The Lakers will now take their (1 – 6) record into Tillsonburg on October 6th to face the (1 – 4) Hurricanes in a 7:30 p.m start.
