Ice Dogs Take a Bite Out of Miners in SIJHL Action in Dryden

After a 4 – 3 overtime loss in Red Lake, Ontario on January 3rd to the third place English River Miners, the second place Dryden Ice Dogs were back in action on January 5th to host the Miners in Dryden in a Superior International Junior Hockey League match – up.

3:01 into the opening period, Dryden’s Eric Stout fires the first goal to give the Ice Dogs a 1 – 0 lead with Jacen Bracko and Cory Dennis adding the contributors on Stout’s 17th of the season. Sinking his tenth of the season, Trey Palermo gives the hosts a 2 – 0 lead 13:27 into the first with Tristan Simm and Connor Mowatt notching the assists on Palmero’s goal. English River’s Brody Jennings finds the back of Ice Dog netminder Landon Pavlisin’s net for the Miners lone goal 5:53 into the final period to pull the visitors within one. Jacob Siebenga and Michael Di Lullo setting up Jennings’ goal. Ice Dog Brendan Jay increases the lead to 3 – 2 at the 6:48 mark of the period with Palermo and Simm drawing the helpers on Jay’s sixth of the season.

Giving Dryden a 4 – 1 win, Eric Stout adds the assist on Jacen Bracko’s 22nd on the season at 14:04 of the third. Dryden’s Landon Pavlisin stopped 32 out of 33 shots in the Ice Dog’s Friday evening win over the Miners.

Next up for the Ice Dogs will be the Fort Frances Lakers in Dryden on January 6th in a 7:30 (CST) start.
