Ice Dogs Hand the CJHL Number One Ranked Norskies a SIJHL Loss

On January 13th at the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, the second place (23-3-5-1) Dryden Ice Dogs faced the number one Canadian Junior Hockey League ranked (28-1) Thief River Falls Norskies in a Superior International Junior Hockey League match – up.

58 seconds before the halfway mark of the opening period, Jacen Bracko sinks his 26th of the season to give the Ice Dogs a 1 – 0 lead. Burke Johnstone and Evan Walls had the assists on Bracko’s goal. Kris Hamlin and Matt Pitchenese set up Dryden’s Malcolm Hummert for his 12th on the season 1:48 into the second to give the visitors a 2 – 0 lead. Scoring his second of the contest, Bracko adds to the lead 1:05 into the final period to bring the lead to 3 – 0, Tristan Simm and Walls drew the contributors on Dryden’s third of the game. Eric Stout finds the back of the Norskies net 4:29 into the third with his 21st of the season to give the Ice Dogs a 4 – 0 shutout win and handing Thief River their second loss of the 2017 – 2018 season. Brendan Jay and Woody Galbraith registered the helpers on Stout’s goal. Jacob Gnidziejko earned his first shutout of the SIJHL season in the Ice Dogs 4 – 0 win with making 35 saves against Thief River.

The Ice Dogs and Norskies return to action on January 14th in Thief River Falls, Minnesota in a 7:00 p.m (CST) puck drop.
