Ice Dogs Fall to the Miners in SIJHL Action at the Cochenour

In a rare Tuesday meeting in junior ‘A’ hockey action, the second place Dryden Ice Dogs headed to Red Lake, Ontario on February 13th to meet the fourth place English River Miners in a Superior International Junior Hockey League match – up.

At 18:12 of the second period, English River’s Michael Di Lullo finds the back of Ice Dog goaltender Jacob Gnidziejko’s net to give the Miners a 1 – 0 lead with Dante Tisi and Brody Jennings adding the helpers on Di Lullo’s goal. Only 20 seconds into the final period, Jacen Bracko fires Dryden’s lone goal of the contest with his 33rd of the season to even the game 1 – 1 for the visitors. Brendan Jay drew the assist on Bracko’s tying goal. With the hosts on a power play 2:40 into the period, Kyle Rosolowski sinks the go – ahead goal for the Miners with Terix Fischer – Kobes and Nic Herringer notching the contributors on Rosolowski’s power play marker. With 4:58 remaining in the game, Spencer Milne finds Jacob Siebenga for English River’s insurance goal to give the Miners 3 – 1 win over the Ice Dogs. Dryden goaltender Jacob Gnidziejko turned away 31 of 34 shots in the Ice Dogs’ sixth loss of the 2017 – 2018 season.

Dryden will be back on the road for a February 17th match – up against the fifth place Lakers in a 7:30 p.m puck drop in Fort Frances at the Ice for Kids Arena.
