Whalers Calm the Hurricane in GMHL Action at the Vale

At the Vale Centre in Port Colborne, Ontario on February 11th, the second place Niagara Whalers hosted the eleventh place Tillsonburg Hurricanes in a south division Greater Metro Hockey League match – up.

Veteran Whaler Frolov Mikhail fires four goals to lead Niagara to a 10 – 1 win over the visiting Hurricanes at the Vale Centre on Sunday evening. Ethan Spaxman, Steven Farano and Logan Aprea combined for a total of nine points for the hosts with Spaxman sinking two goals and adding one helper, Farano contributing one goal and two assists while Aprea setting up three goals for Niagara. Alex Remedios and Jake Lloyd found the net once and added an assist each in the Whalers 10 – 1 along with David Christpher registering two points with two contributors for Niagara. Eight Whalers had one point in the win with Mitchell Chastelet scoring one as well as Patrick Desjardin, Jordan Pitts, Charles Shumate, Kellan Rosenbaum, Nick Pastorious and Jesse Masterson all notching one helper a piece in Niagara’s 31st win of the 2017 – 2018 season. Goaltender Austin Dero allowed only one goal on 29 shots in the Whalers win in Port Colborne.

The Whalers will round out their regular season in the final game when they host the Oshawa Riverkings in a 7:00 p.m match – up at the Vale Centre in Port Colborne.
